For the 2021-2022 academic year, tuition for undergraduates living on the Flagstaff campus is $10,650, for in-state students $7,950, and for online undergraduates $10,920, according to the NAU website. For high school graduates, the fee is $11,004 for the Flagstaff campus, $10,596 for on-campus, and $13,800 for online students.
The cost of college has not changed over the past three years, while the cost of living at NAU has increased by 7% over that period, the report said.

According to a NAU press release, the change is designed to support NAU's strategic initiatives to address rising costs and provide equal value to students.
What We Do — Friends Of The Aspen Animal Shelter
"Our 2022-2023 tuition and fees proposals reflect our focus on equity, opportunity and quality as we close resource gaps through our three-year program. Without price increases for students, there are still many inflationary pressures and the need to invest in new strategies Importance. Strengthening the capacity of the programs and services we offer our students," said Principal José Luis Cruz Rivera. "Our role at NAU at this time is to promote balanced policies and actions designed to expand access, close points of entry, and promote outcomes. A revolution that empowers people through the social and economic prosperity of our society. Plus."
Other changes include an increase in the Fall 2023 registration fee (currently $325), a 3% increase in housing costs and a 3.9% increase in meal plan costs in 2022-2023. These are designed to provide additional support for early and disadvantaged students and ensure tuition-free (registration fees), support fee increases and refurbishment of buildings, remain competitive with off-campus (domestic) options and deal with inflation. Food and Services cost and "increased flexibility in meal plan options" (meal planning).
The university has also waived tuition and program fees for undergraduates (with the exception of honors college fees), rather than increasing the composition of the school, which accounts for 63% of undergraduates.

"Simplifying the payment process will increase the predictability of student programs and financial aid awards, and support funding for student success programs such as counseling and career services and enrollment training," Cruz Rivera wrote.
It also includes programs to simplify education, setting credit payments for part-time students (7-11 credits) currently paying full tuition. This would "reduce the overall cost of a degree for part-time [low- or low-income] students compared to full-time students," according to the proposal.

Cruz Rivera said the impact of these actions "will only generate a fraction of the resources needed to continue our operations." "In addition to our training and compensation, it is important that NAU continues to improve our operations and develop skills to continue to be the best stewards of our resources as we seek to expand opportunities, our workforce and the nation's economy."
