Please apply for a residence visa. Within 15 days of your first arrival in Taiwan, please apply. for a Resident Alien Certificate (ARC) at the National Immigration Bureau. An official application will be issued by NCCU to receive your ARC.

Students must purchase their insurance before coming to NCCU to cover their stay in Taiwan. No medical insurance is offered at NCCU; however, all exchange students must purchase basic student insurance (NT$150 – approximately US$5) which covers accidents.

If you are accepted by York University to participate in this program, you will be asked for the University's travel insurance policy. "For me, one of the things that was different was the way of teaching here in Taiwan. They seem to focus on three hour lessons (with 10 minutes in between) and try hard to prepare for the exam. After much internal discussion, consultation with health officials and a review of past and future events, they have revised the calendar for the fall semester of 2020.

Under the new schedule, the fall semester will begin on August 24, 2020, and end on November 24, 2020, one day before Thanksgiving. These dates include final exams for all colleges and universities, except for the Law School. The law school will begin classes on August 17, 2020, and will conclude on November 20, 2020; Law school exams will end on December 9, 2020. The break, originally scheduled for October 11 and 12, has been cancelled. Additional online dates will be held on Saturdays between August 24 and November 24.

The Fall 2020 calendar was created with input and feedback from the Academic Calendar Committee, one of the 11-member Operations Continuity Task Force.
