Abilene Isd Calendar 2023-2024 – The spring ISD Board of Trustees approved Tuesday the academic calendar for the 2022-23 school year, which will see students begin classes on Aug. 16, 2022, and end on June 1, 2023.

The approved calendars are one of two options offered to employees and the community to enter in a survey that attracted more than 1,700 comments.

Abilene Isd Calendar 2023-2024

Both calendar options prioritize maximizing student learning, include teacher professional development, and include parent-teacher conferences throughout the year. Both options include a half-day of instructional time for parent-teacher conferences, as well as an approved calendar split over two days on November 7 and February 17. In addition, the calendar includes an autumn holiday on October 10 and a new county holiday on June 19. The approved calendar allows for the addition of a holiday on Election Day on November 8.

According to the approved calendar, the winter break for students after half-day classes will begin on December 16 and end with the return of classes on Thursday, January 5. Spring break will begin after half-day classes in March. Classes will resume on Monday, March 20, 10.

ISD's Spring Advisory Committee on Education (ACE), which includes staff and teachers, provided input and guidance before recommending these two assessments to the public in a community survey. Both options meet all state instructional hour requirements, including 174 and 440 days of daily instructional minutes to make up for make-up days when needed.
