Usf Academic Calendar 2023-24 – For the past five years, US News and World Report has ranked Florida's college No. 1 in the nation. The Florida State University System (SUS) includes 12 institutions: UF, FSU, USF, UCF, FAU, FGCU, FIU, FAMU, UNF, Florida Poly, New College of Florida, and UWF. Last Wednesday, College Counselors from International College Counselors attended an invitation-only virtual admissions workshop at SUS Florida to hear from staff at 12 public schools across Florida.

UCF received more than 49,000 applications last year and admitted 7,131 students. In the Class of 2025, UCF welcomed 107 National Merit Scholars and 30 National Hispanic Scholars, among the institution's most talented students. Students come from all 50 states, and approximately 48% of research institutions identify as minorities. New majors this year include a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Bachelor of Science in Career and Technical Education. The school's Top 10 Heroes program continues to guarantee admission to the top 10% of Florida graduates. UCF is accelerating admissions and will begin reviewing applications this month.
Florida Home To 9 Of Top 50 Colleges In South, According To New Study
UF is ranked 6th among public universities by US News and World Report. The school offers more than 120 undergraduate degrees. Last year, UF received 53,000 applications and accepted 15,000 students for the summer B or fall semester. Six hundred students are enrolled in UF's Innovation Academy in the spring and summer program, which includes freshmen in 25 majors. Another 3,600 students are enrolled in UF's PaCE program, where students begin classes online and earn degrees on campus. Academic performance throughout the four years, including high school rigor and academic performance, remains the most important factor in admissions. Through a new initiative, all UF majors can now earn certificates in artificial intelligence and applications. UF recently opened the Lavender Living Learning Community, a gender-neutral housing option for LGBTQ+ students, in the Springs complex. This year, UF asked students about career highlights and added an essay to their application. Admissions representatives note that they love a good story about the student and how the student is involved in the school. Students applying to the Honors Program must write two additional letters. Admissions officers reiterate that essays must be relevant to the UF Honors program and students must not vary between courses. Other things to note: UF does not consider heritage in the admissions process, does not accept majors, and does not consider AP scores in the admissions process.

FAMU is one of the largest Black schools in the United States, providing a quality education at an affordable price. To be accepted, students must report their high school or college grades through the Student Self-Reporter (SSAR), submit two letters of recommendation, and a limited transcript.The last 500 words on a topic of their choice. As an admissions representative, overcoming obstacles and challenges is a good topic. Students must apply before the scholarship decision deadline of November 1. The university offers 50+ degrees in a variety of programs including pharmacy, medicine, journalism, health sciences, engineering, architecture, and business.

FAU Foundation Day. The university has two campuses: Boca Raton (main campus) and Jupiter (Wilkes Honors College). FAU prides itself on the diversity of its student body. The school offers engineering programs, excels academically, and is the only tuition-free college affiliated with FAU in the United States. It recently received its largest school award, a $20 million gift from philanthropists Kurt and Marilyn Wallach. This gift funds the Kurt and Marilyn Wallach Institute for Holocaust and Jewish Studies. FAU received 6,000 applications to its prestigious medical school last year and only accepted 66. This new year is a 150-bed residence hall on Jupiter's campus. The school is currently accepting applications, but students must apply by January 14 to be eligible for aid. Applicants must use the SSAR to report their high school and undergraduate courses.
This fall, FGCU welcomed the largest freshman class in its history. Founded in 1991, FGCU has 15,000+ students or 4,700 students on campus. The school is located on 800 acres, of which 400 have been restored or preserved. This year, the school renovated the Student Services Plaza and opened three new facilities: the Recreation and Health Center, the Community Service Center, and Lucas Hall, the school's business document. A new 116,000-square-foot School of Water building is under construction to help students study water issues such as climate change, national resources and ecosystem health. FGCU's golf management program is one of 18 PGA-accredited programs in the country and the only one in Florida. They also have a strong internship program and are ranked #2 in the state for student employment. New courses include Construction Management in the College of Engineering, Materials Management in the College of Business and Science, and Digital Media and Design in the College of Computer Science and Arts and Sciences. FGCU housing includes three garden-style options.
Florida's public universities are ranked based on key metrics such as retention rate, four-year degrees and tuition. Miami-based FIU received the highest score and was ranked the No. 1 public university in Florida. FIU is proud to host Aquarius Reef, the world's only underwater research facility, where students can learn about global threats, marine safety and more. Bacardi recently gave the school $5 million to develop a drinking water management system. FIU has a diverse student body of 381 high schools and students from 66 countries, with 86% of students identifying as Black, African American, or Mew. The university typically offers bachelor's and master's degrees to Hispanic students. In 2022, a new hotel with 750 beds and a new building for the Green School of International and Public Relations will be put into operation. FIU Offers 10% Admission: Students who graduate from a Florida high school in the top 10% of their class are eligible for admission. Florida Poly is the newest school in Florida to join SUS and focuses exclusively on STEM education. Florida Poly was named one of the TOP 40 non-Ph.D. civil engineering programs by US News & World Report, and Value Schools ranked #2 in the nation for quality, affordable mechanical engineering education. Florida Poly welcomed its largest student body this fall, now totaling 1,550 students. A new major this year is cybersecurity engineering, and Florida Poly partnered with the U.S. Navy to give students access to the Navy's prestigious nuclear engine. Police Candidate Program (NUPOC). The school added new sports, including men's lacrosse, women's soccer and archery. The Florida Poly Robotics team continues to rise to the highest level of competition in VEX and Challenges. A new applied research center with an area of 90,000 square meters is being built and is scheduled to be put into operation in the spring. The facility includes new academic buildings, industrial buildings, conference rooms and faculty offices.

Dr. Richard McCullough is the school's most senior dean and brings more than 30 years of research and leadership experience to the position. FSU welcomed more than 66,000 applications for the fall of 2021, the largest freshman class in the school's history. The graduating class included students from 66 of Florida's 67 states, all 50 states, Washington and 49 countries. FSU's four-year graduation rate of 74% ranks No. 1 in Florida; They also retain 95% of returning students for their 2nd year. According to the Princeton Review, the school is still ranked 11th among public schools in 2021. Major fields of study for students include biological sciences, business, engineering, psychology, and humanities / unpublished. The university offers 276 academic and professional degrees. The application deadline for FSU is November 1st, and all documents must be submitted by that date, but students must submit additional test scores by December 31st.
