Uva Academic Calendar 2023-24 – At LEAD Public Schools, we know that high-achieving teachers lead high-achieving students. As we strive to help students who often enter our school years behind their peers, we are looking for passionate teachers who want to grow and make a difference in the lives of Nashville students. Applications for the 2022-2023 academic year are now open.

At LEAD, we believe that hard work and excellence should be rewarded. That's why we have a performance-based compensation model tied to team evaluation. Lead teachers can receive up to 10% salary increases each year. Since the implementation of our program, the average growth of teachers has been 5.5% per year. Our highest performing teachers grew by 9.5%.

When I worked at MNPS, I often interacted with senior team members. I was able to see firsthand how school and network leaders continue to focus on student development. I have embraced the opportunity to work with others who share the belief that all children should have access to quality educational opportunities, regardless of the barriers they face.

My first teaching job in Nashville was as a hospital school teacher at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. I worked for about ten years with students who had medical care needs that required an extended hospital stay. The lessons I learned from my students about hope in the face of adversity truly changed my life.

I grew up in Nashville and have a background in both STEM and education. I hold nine patents for designs I developed while working at Maddock before joining the charter school as an applied physics teacher.

What initially attracted me to LEAD was its commitment to serving not only the student, but the entire community and surrounding area. When asked if watching UVA basketball was one of my favorite activities since I was in elementary school; Now I have a national championship to back up that excitement.

Equality in education should not depend on what city you live in. All children, regardless of where they live or their socioeconomic status, should have the opportunity to receive a high-quality education. I believe we serve our students and families.

I grew up in North Nashville and graduated from North High School (now closed). My career has taken me through a variety of jobs, from managing Pizza Hut to leading human resources at several Fortune 500 companies.

I joined Frontline because of my unwavering belief that good schools should be accessible to every child, regardless of race or socioeconomic status.

Education was not my first career choice. I started teaching 25 years ago when my kids started school and it was the best career choice I ever made.

I chose LEAD because of the commitment of passionate and talented adults to serve students in every neighborhood in Nashville.
